Azealia Banks says RuPaul stole her music

Azealia Banks, no stranger to controversy, has engaged in beef with drag star RuPaul over the medium of Twitter. Banks has accused RuPaul of “ripping off” her music.

Later, when said track was removed from online music app Spotify, Banks claimed credit for the removal.

The singer engaged in a series of transphobic tweets, saying “You will not step on my little black girl toes bitch. You will take your razor bumps and pumps to the nearest laser hair removal clinic and seethe.”

She referred to RuPaul as “him,” saying “He was supposed to have my back.”

The crux of the accusation is that RuPaul nabbed the sound of the Banks track “The Big Big Beat” for RuPaul’s song “Call Me Mother.” Banks claimed she was going to initiate legal proceedings over the controversy.

The Banks track “The Big Big Beat” includes a sample of the Notorious B.I.G.’s voice. The sample is not credited.

In recent years, Banks, who identifies as bisexual, has become well-known for racist and homophobic tirades on social media. As Banks’ general profile has declined, the outbursts have become regular feature of her profile.

She summoned controversy after stating she would have enjoyed playing at the Trump inauguration, although she has since criticized the President.

The RuPaul track is still listed on Apple’s musical platform.
