“Love, Simon” wins Best Kiss at MTV Movie & TV Awards

The gay teen romance “Love, Simon” took home the prize of Best Kiss at the 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards.

The film is one of several LGBTQ-themed movies which have scored the award, along with “Brokeback Mountain” and “Moonlight.”

During the narrative, the protagonist Simon (Nick Robinson) and his crush, Bram (Keiynan Lonsdale) share a passionate onscreen kiss.

According to NBC News, in his acceptance speech, Lonsdale said, “You can live your dreams and kiss the one that you love, no matter what gender they are … You can live your dreams, and you can believe in magic. You can live your dreams, and you can be yourself.”

The MTV awards show also drew applause for not dividing performance categories into male and female sections.
