It was a beautiful Easter Sunday for the annual Armorettes Easter Drag Races, a day of bawdy fun to celebrate one of gay Atlanta’s most (un)holy of days. Each year hundreds and hundreds of people pack the parking lot of Burkhart’s to watch brave souls take part in risky games of musical chairs, an actual drag race (the former Armorette Wild Cherry Sucret won the race this year), and a hula-hoop contest in which the winner showed off extraordinary skills. And, of course, outrageous, gorgeous Easter bonnets who always are the stars of the party.
Praise be. See you next year.
