Senate schedules ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ hearings

The heads of each branch of the military — Gen. George W. Casey, Jr., Chief of Staff of the Army; Adm. Gary Roughead, Chief of Naval Operations; Gen. James F. Amos, Commandant of the Marine Corps and Gen. Norton A. Schwartz, Chief of Staff of the Air Force — will testify the following day (Dec. 3).

The Senate Armed Services Committee is chaired by Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.). The ranking Republican on the committee is Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) who has publicly threatened a filibuster of the repeal.

The Pentagon is scheduled to release its report on DADT Nov. 30, giving committee members just two days to review the findings of the year-long study.

Both days’ hearings are scheduled for 9 a.m.
