[Video] Vice President Joe Biden endorses same-sex marriage?

Biden also said he believed NBC’s “Will & Grace” did more for educating the public about gay issues than anybody has so far. The show aired from 1998-2006. At Atlanta’s HRC Dinner on Saturday night, actor Sean Hayes, who played “Jack” on the popular TV show, was honored with the Visibility Award.

“I think Will & Grace probably did more to educate the American public than almost anything anybody has done so far. People fear that is different and now they’re beginning to understand,” Biden said.

Evan Wolfson, founder and President of Freedom to Marry, said he believes Biden came out today in support of full marriage equality:
“I’ve known Vice President Biden since interning for him in the Senate in 1976. The personal and thoughtful way he has spoken about his coming to support the freedom to marry reflects the same journey that a majority of Americans have now made as they’ve gotten to know gay families, opened their hearts and changed their minds. President Obama should join the Vice President, former Presidents Clinton and Carter, former Vice Presidents Gore and Cheney, Laura Bush, and so many others in forthright support for the freedom to marry,” he said.

Think Progress includes in its story a tweet from David Axelrod, the communications director for Obama’s re-election campaign, that stated Biden’s positions are the same as the president’s:

What VP said-that all married couples should have exactly the same legal rights-is precisely POTUS’s position.

Watch the video yourself and let us know what you think — does Biden say he believes in full marriage equality and therefore goes beyond what his boss thinks? Or is he really still towing the administration’s line?
