State representative to address AEN, Stonewall Bar Association tonight

Simone Bell brings power to people under Gold Dome

As the founder of Sweet Vibrations, a motorcycle club for women, state Rep. Simone Bell (D-Atlanta) may not fit the mold of a typical politician. But as the nation’s first African-American open lesbian state legislator, she’s making paths in history as well as rounding curves on the roads.

Bell speaks tonight at the gay Atlanta Executive Network meeting.  The meeting, in conjunction with the Stonewall Bar Association begins at 6:30 p.m. at Alston & Bird, 1180 W. Peachtree St., Atlanta, GA 30309.

Catering by Kardon Events and wine will be included.

Bell was recently honored at the Atlanta HRC Dinner and Silent Auction with the Dan Bradley Humanitarian Award, and was accompanied on stage by her partner, Valerie Acree; Georgia Equality Executive Director Jeff Graham, and Graham’s partner, Peter Stinner.

Bell is seeking her first full term after a special election last fall.
