Catch a preview of new stage show at 14th Street Playhouse and help Atlanta Cotillion

Sneak peek of ‘Pageant: The Musical’ raises funds for AID Atlanta

If you want to see the new musical “Pageant: The Musical” opening at the 14th Street Playhouse this week before everyone else, buy tickets to a preview of the show tonight that also benefits Atlanta Cotillion and AID Atlanta.

“We are very fortunate that the timing was such for us to be able to partner with AID Atlanta and Atlanta Cotillion IX,” says Gregg Adams, president of 2 Fat Farmers Productions and co-producer of the musical in a statement.

“‘Pageant isn’t a ‘gay musical’ even though the characters are played by men, nor is HIV/AIDS a ‘gay disease,’” he added. “Both events are entertainment avenues in which to raise awareness: Cotillion, to generate funds used to increase quality of life and level of HIV/AIDS education in the community; and Pageant, a musical that is able to speak candidly about beauty and society’s image of women because the contestants are in drag.”

‘Pageant’ is a spoof of beauty pageants with six men dressed as women vying for the title of “Miss Glamouresse.” Five people from the audience will be picked to judge the competition.

The show opens to the general public on Wednesday with showtimes at 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday and at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.
