Meme of the week: Scumbag N.C. preacher

Pastor Sean Harris of Berean Baptist Church in Fayetteville, N.C., made quite the stink this week when an audio transcript of one of his recent sermons was made public. In the audio, Harris said, among other vile things, "Dads, the second you see your son dropping the limp wrist, you walk over there and crack that wrist. Man up. Give him a good punch. Ok?"

Harris was preaching on the sanctity of marriage and the immorality of the homosexual lifestyle.

Harris continued, "And when your daughter starts acting too butch you reign her in. And you say, ‘Oh, no, sweetheart. You can play sports. Play them to the glory of God. But sometimes you are going to act like a girl and walk like a girl and talk like a girl and smell like a girl and that means you are going to be beautiful. You are going to be attractive. You are going to dress yourself up.’"

The Coalition to Protect NC FamiliesResidents of North Carolina will go to the polls on May 8. On the ballot, Amendment One, a proposed constitutional amendment that would define marriage as a union between one man and one woman in the state's constitution.

Stuart Campbell, Executive Director of Equality North Carolina, said today that his organization has been working for months on raising awareness of the harm Amendment One would cause North Carolinians should it pass next week.

North Carolina already has at least one statute that bans such unions, Campbell said.
