CNN and Opinion Research Corporation released the results of a recent poll today that found a slim majority of Americans now support same-sex marriage.
According to the results, 51 percent of Americans now believe that same-sex marriages should be recognized as valid and those in such marriages should receive the same rights as married heterosexual couples; 47 percent opposed recognizing same-sex unions as valid.
The margin of error was 3.5 percentage points.
The poll found that women and those under 50 years of age were more generally accepting of marriage equality. Democrats and Independents were nearly twice as likely to support same-sex marriage than self-identified Republicans.
You all loved him on Lifetime's "Project Runway" last year and when he designed an amazing outfit to reveal to the world he is HIV positive, Mondo Guerra received accolades from gay fans for his honesty. He may not have won on the catwalk, but he won the hearts of many of the show's loyal viewers.
On Friday, Mondo, who is gay, will join other stars including Elton John, Sharon Stone and Mo'nique for an "Anderson Cooper 360" special, "Hope Survives: 30 Years of AIDS."
Former Army Lieutenant Dan Choi, a prominent advocate for the repeal of the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy, took to CNN this morning to blast the Obama administration over its decision to appeal a federal judge’s ruling that the policy was unconstitutional.
Choi, who was discharged under DADT this summer, said that he was “resentful” and went on to add that he felt the Obama administration was playing politics with the policy.
Headline News highlighted two gay media stories this week. The first was a feature on an Anderson Cooper interview about the trailer for the movie “The Dilemma” and its use of a “gay” joke by actor Vince Vaughn.
The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) is calling for the joke to be pulled from the trailer, first posted online. It has since been removed from the internet but continues to play in theatrical trailers.
Bishop Eddie Long, spiritual leader of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church and its thousands of members, is in the midst of a gay-sex scandal involving two young men who have accused Long of coercion. Local and national media picked up the story late yesterday.
Today, another lawsuit was filed, details forthcoming.
Two men have filed suits Tuesday in DeKalb County alleging Pastor Eddie Long coerced them into having sex with him, according to a report by CNN.
The men state in their lawsuits that Long, pastor of the anti-gay mega-church New Birth Missionary Baptist Church located in Lithonia, used his authority as pastor and bishop to force them into sex, the CNN report states.
Lady Gaga’s latest music video for ‘Alejandro’ was released today on YouTube around noon. The eight minute mini-movie was directed by Steven Klein and features a military / fetish theme. Oh, and lots of simulated sex acts.
