Police investigating death of gay campground employee

Local law enforcement investigators have ruled the death of a gay campground employee a murder and are investigating the crime as a “homicide by gunshot.”

On Sept. 8, victim Todd Tumlin was found in the woods off Pulliam Mill Rd. near the site of River’s Edge, a gay campground where Tumlin worked. Tumlin had been reported missing on Aug. 28 and had last been seen in the immediate area.

Family and friends remember Greg Barrett

Friends and family of Greg Barrett came together at Christ Covenant MCC in Decatur this afternoon to honor his life and remember his community volunteerism. Barrett died suddenly June 3.

Community leaders and family remembered Barrett for his dedication to local nonprofit organizations as well on the impact he had on friends and family.

Longtime Atlanta Pride volunteer dies suddenly

UPDATE: The memorial service for Greg Barrett will be Monday, June 7, at 3 p.m. at Christ Covenant MCC, 109 Hibernia Ave. Decatur, GA 30030. Directions to the church can be found online at www.christcovenantmcc.org

Greg Barrett, a long-time volunteer with Atlanta Pride as well as numerous other organizations, died today, said JP Sheffield, executive director of Atlanta Pride.

News of his death started appearing in Facebook updates about 4 p.m. today. Sheffield said he talked to Barrett’s husband, Tim, and everyone is still in shock.
