[Video] JC Penney ad dads react to viral fame

Todd Koch, Cooper Smith and the North Texas couple's children were on a local Dallas news program yesterday to talk about their family's ad in the June catalog for clothing retailer JC Penney.

The pro-gay Father's Day ad renewed calls for boycott from conservative Christian group One Million Moms, who also organized an unsuccessful boycott after the retailer hired out funny woman Ellen DeGeneres to be a spokesperson earlier this year.

East Side Pride organizes Atlanta JC Penney ‘buy-cott’ to support Ellen DeGeneres

Ellen DeGeneres

East Side Pride is organizing a JC Penney “buy-cott” to show support for the retailer's decision to stand by new spokesperson Ellen DeGeneres.

On Feb. 18, East Side Pride will meet at the Northlake Mall JC Penney from 3-6 p.m. to “shop until you drop” to support the retailer.

An anti-gay group called One Million Moms created a campaign to have DeGeneres fired from her new role and threatened to boycott the retailer until DeGeneres was gone. JC Penney stood by DeGeneres.
