President Barack Obama has taken heat from LGBT activists in the last few weeks for refusing to sign an executive order that would ban workplace discrimination for federal contractors based on sexual orientation, perceived sexual orientation and gender identity.
During last night's “Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” host Jon Stewart laid out a pretty convincing argument against the Obama administration's decision to persue a legislative solution (Employment Non-Discrimination Act) rather than simply issuing an executive order to protect federal LGBT workers.
Stewart also pokes fun at North Carolina's proposed constitutional amendment that would ban same-sex marriage (in a state that has already outlaws such unions) and highlights a ridiculous new marketing campaign from the creators of Mike & Ike candies.
Last night's “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” took on the recent controversy of two straight men posing as lesbian bloggers. If you haven't heard anything about it, our Dyana Bagby has a fantastic take on the story.
“The Daily Show” has covered LGBT issues extensively recently, even creating a new, and apparently regular, segment called “We're here. We're queer. Get Newsed to it” to house its LGBT coverage.
Stewart also highlights the ongoing battle in New York state over marriage rights for same-sex couples.

Last night on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” host Jon Stewart highlighted several recent LGBT news issues, including the recent anti-gay remarks from Atlanta Braves pitching coach Roger McDowell aimed at fans over Easter weekend in San Francisco. Stewart has been all over the gaydar this week.
McDowell was suspended for the incident but will return to the dugout this Friday against the Philadelphia Phillies. The Braves were 7-4 during McDowell's suspension, in case you were wondering.
Stewart took the obvious route and poked fun at attorney Gloria Allred and her interesting press conference with John Quinn, the man who alleged McDowell made anti-gay remarks and threatening gestures directed toward him and another group of men. The segment was funny nonetheless.

Last night on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” correspondent Jason Jones traveled to the city by the bay to find out why the gay mecca isn't ranked as the gayest city in America in Advocate's latest list of "The Gayest Cities in America" list. In 2010, Atlanta took the top spot in Advocate's ranking, but this year Minneapolis claimed the title.
Jones compares the gay scenes from San Francisco and Minneapolis in a hilarious segment called "Minneapolis is the New Gay."

Last night, journalist Lisa Ling appeared on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” to discuss her new show, “Our America with Lisa Ling,” on Oprah Winfrey's OWN network.
Ling discusses an episode of her show centering on transgender people at different points in transition.
“It's a really beautiful show,” Ling says. “We cover people at different stages of transitions, including a six-year-old child who was born Harry but never identified with being a boy.”
Carl Paladino, a candidate for governor of New York, made a few comments in recent days that have come off sounding just a bit, well, homophobic. Paladino, a Republican, is running against Andrew Cuomo in a not-so-hotly contested race.
Paladino made a statement to a group of Hasidic Jews saying that single mothers and gay men and lesbians should not teach in public schools. He also said that children would be much better off, more successful, if they “get married and raise a family.”
