Gay activists plan counter protest to KKK in Augusta

The Queer Justice League along with members of Proud Ally and GETEqual are planning to travel to Augusta on Saturday to hold a peaceful counter protest to the Ku Klux Klan.

The KKK is protesting Augusta State University after the university stated graduate level counseling student Jennifer Keeton, a devout Christian, needed to change her anti-gay beliefs in order to graduate.

10th anniversary of Little Five Points Halloween fest, parade this weekend


Fresh off the 40th year of Atlanta Pride comes another gay favorite festival and parade with the Little 5 Points Halloween celebration Friday and Saturday.

The fest opens Friday from 5-10 p.m. with live music, outdoor beverage vendors as well as promotions from neighborhood restaurants and stores.

An organizer of the event, Brian Baj, who is openly gay, says this year is especially queer friendly and includes “tranny sensation” Jayne County performing on Saturday.

U.S. Marine faces lesser charge in attack on Savannah gay man

One of the U.S. Marines charged in the beating of a gay man in Savannah will not face a battery charge, a judge ruled today.

The Savannah Morning News reported today that Sgt. Keil Cronauer, 22, “will definitely not go up as battery,” as ruled by Chatham County Recorder’s Court Judge Claire Cornwell-Williams.

The other U.S. Marine charged in the attack on Kieran Daly — Christopher C. Stanzel, 23 — was sent to Chatham County State Court on the battery charge after a preliminary hearing, the newspaper reported.
