Southern Southpaw League opens today for fall softball season

Atlanta’s women’s professional basketball team, the Atlanta Dream, advanced out of the first round of the WNBA playoffs Friday night after beating the Washington Mystics 101-77.
2010 is the second consecutive year that the Dream have made the playoffs in their three-year history. Friday’s win against the Mystics, however, was the first post-season series victory for the team.

Lead by forward Angel McCoughtry, the Dream finished fourth in the Eastern Conference with a 19-15 regular season record. 2010 marks the second straight year the Dream will contest the post-season.

The U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team will host an international friendly against China on Oct. 2 at Kennesaw State University Soccer Stadium, home to professional women’s team Atlanta Beat.
The USWNT will play two games against China before heading to Mexico for a qualifying tournament for the 2011 Women’s World Cup.
This marks the first time in more than 10 years that the U.S. women will play in Atlanta.
