Charis, which recently celebrated its 37th anniversary, is one of the last remaining feminist bookstores in the nation. Together with Charis Circle the bookstore announced in March plans to open a new feminist center.

Sara Luce Look, co-owner of Charis Books & More, said the feminist center is also a way to ensure the bookstore and its programming are around for many more years to come.

“We are lucky to have so many loyal and dedicated customers. And even if they don’t come regularly, they tell us they want it here for the next generation,” she said in March.

The benefit on Saturday, Dec. 3, includes a dance party with DJ Lynnee Denise following the concert by Roberts, who recently released her new album “Black Eyed Susan.” Raffle tickets will also be sold at the benefit with a chance to win a new iPad. All proceeds go to Charis Circle, founded in 1996.
