Atlanta Hosts National LGBTQ Liaison Summit

Today, the city of Atlanta, in partnership with the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC), is hosting a national summit for LGBTQ municipal liaisons and allied city officials to learn about LGBTQ issues.

The virtual Connecting Communities summit will equip attendees from across the country with the knowledge about the most critical issues facing the LGBTQ community and the skills to create positive change in their own communities. The summit will include workshops and panel discussions on the following topics:

Inclusive Non-discrimination Laws and Policies

Creating Equitable Economic Opportunities

Critical Issues Facing the Transgender Community

Municipal Services for Particularly Vulnerable Members of the LGBTQ Community

Utilizing an Intersectional Lens in Local News, Policies, and Services

Attendees will also hear from HRC President Alphonso David, Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, Florida Representative Val Demings, and City of Minneapolis Councilwoman Andrea Jenkins.
