Morehouse College to offer new LGBT class in January as it moves beyond anti-gay past
A decade after a Morehouse College student beat another student with a baseball bat because he believed the other young man was gay, the all-male historically black Atlanta campus is set to offer its first class in LGBT studies.

Most people in Atlanta and elsewhere know Dan Grossman as the dogged attorney who fought City Hall — and won.
When the Atlanta Eagle, a Midtown gay bar, was raided in 2009 by the Atlanta Police Department, Grossman was the only attorney willing to represent the patrons of the bar and sue the city in federal court for constitutional right violations because the patron were detained and searched without cause. Grossman won — several times — and the city paid out millions to settle the lawsuits.
Westboro Baptist Church pisses off hackers with mass-shooting response
The gay-haters at Westboro Baptist Church are continuing their mission of pissing off everyone in America by announcing their intention to picket Sandy Hook Elementary School following the mass shooting in Newtown, Ct. that killed 26 people, including 20 students.
Westboro has regularly protested the funerals of slain American soldiers and has picketed concerts, churches, synagogues and even Atlanta’s Grady High School in “demonstrations opposing the fag lifestyle of soul-damning, nation-destroying filth,” according to the group’s website.
Atlanta mayor promises to change conversation on gay marriage in Ga.
When Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed called Lee Schreter on Dec. 11 to tell her was announcing publicly his support of marriage equality, she whooped out loud.
“And I had a smile pasted on my face the rest of the day,” she recalled.
