The Associated Press interviewed 10 gay and lesbian people from around the country to create an interactive snapshot of the issues we face.

What does it mean to be ‘Gay in America’?

I was honored to be chosen as one of the 10, and have spent the morning enjoying the interviews with the other nine, who range from a Dominican immigrant in New York to a city councilman in Fort Worth to a gay teen in California.

In the videos, each of us responds to two questions:

1. What do you think people have the hardest time understanding about your life as a gay person in America?

2. In light of your personal circumstances, how has being gay affected your life?

These interviews are highly personal, and the answers vary widely. Take a look, and share how you would answer these questions.
