Meet author Helena Andrews as she discusses her memoir at Charis Books & More

Dear readers, ‘Bitch is the New Black’

Helena Andrews was profiled in the Washington Post on Oct. 10, 2009 in an article titled, “Single Minded Success.” The story was a hit among readers and her story was picked up by The Huffington Post, Jezebel and Racialicious.

“What I’m trying to say about single, black women is, you don’t know them as well as you think you do. They may not know themselves as well as they think they do,” she says about her work, life and love.

Andrews’ first book, “Bitch is the New Black,” is a memoir told in parts that chronicles “her journey from the kidnapped daughter of the town lesbian to the Washington reporter who can’t remember a single senator’s name, to the girl who runs her love life on G-chat.”

Meet this exciting and provocative author today at Charis Books & More as she discusses and signs her book, now in production for a film.
