SeekingArrangement, the world’s largest Sugar Daddy/Mommy dating site, has released its annual report of the Fastest Growing Sugar Babies Schools, and Georgia State University (GSU) topped the list.
With a total of 1,304 users – 306 new to the site just this year – GSU was the number one school in the U.S. for using the website to fund college. The closest other Georgia school was Kennesaw University, which placed 23rd.
According to a press release from the company, one in four Americans have student debt, making up a national total of $1.52 trillion. This number is hastily rising, quadrupling from 2004 to 2017. Many students are turning to more non-traditional ways, like finding a sugar daddy/mommy, to pay off their loans.
GSU may have topped the list because of the expense of living in Georgia. The cost of a studio apartment in Georgia is 18 percent higher than the national average. With the average yearly cost of tuition at $9,510, finding a way to cover it while also paying for room and board and other necessities, can be difficult.
With a part-time, minimum-wage job -which is sometimes all college students have the time to take on – students can only earn about $580 per month. However, the average monthly allowance a sugar daddy/mommy provides is $3,000.
“Over the past three administrations, the overall cost of attending college has more than doubled,” said Founder and CEO of SeekingArrangement, Brandon Wade. “Students are tired of hearing politicians campaign on the importance of education, job growth, and opportunity, just to leave promises on the convention floor. The numbers speak for themselves. Of the four million students on SeekingArrangement, more than 62 percent attend college in the U.S.”
There are currently about 20 million people on SeekingArrangement, with 2.5 million being American college students.
