“Our nation has made great strides in the march toward equality, and Hillary is the leader who can build on the progress that President Obama has made. Americans in the LGBT community have always been among Hillary’s most ardent and active supporters, and I look forward to mobilizing them as a key constituency in this grassroots movement encouraging her to run,” she said.
Changadveja and Ready for Hillary will participate at Pride festivals and other LGBT gatherings throughout the U.S., beginning next month at the “Come Out With Pride” event in Orlando, Fla.
She joined Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign in 2007 where she helped organize get out the vote campaigns in the Nevada caucus and the Ohio and Indiana primaries. She has played key roles in the successful campaigns of other candidates including U.S. Sen. Michael Benet (D-Colo.) and Oregon Gov. Ted Kulongoski. In 2011, she served as Planned Parenthood Federation of America Northwest Regional Field Manager.
“Her depth of campaign experience and her vast network of LGBT leaders and grassroots activists make Lisa a perfect fit for this position,” said Stuart Rosenberg, a former regional field director for the Human Rights Campaign and Nevada regional field director for Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign, in a statement.
“I’ve seen firsthand how enthusiastic Lisa is about Hillary Clinton’s potential candidacy, and she will harness the enthusiasm of her fellow LGBT Americans in encouraging Hillary to run. LGBT Americans are at the center of the Ready for Hillary movement and are expressing their support for Hillary every day,” Rosenberg said. “There are few people of Lisa’s caliber to effectively mobilize this energy in all corners of the country.”
Changadveja is the second constituency director to be hired by Ready for Hillary. Last month the group named Obama youth “vote guru” Rachel Schneider as its Young Americans Director.
