1. Former Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship singer Grace Slick licensed one of her songs to Chick-fil-A, just so she could donate every ounce of profit to Lambda Legal.

2. “Big Mama” Thornton, Billy Strayhorn, Marsha P. Johnson, Rep. Barbara Jordan, Alvin Ailey … just a few queer people of color we should all know the stories of. Buzzfeed rounded up a list of 14 black musicians, activists, writers and artists we may or may not have known identified as gay, lesbian or queer.

3. LGBT activists gathered outside the White House this week to protest Donald Trump’s take-back of guidance documents that would allow trans students to use the school bathroom that corresponded to their gender identity. Trump said this decision was better left to the states.

4. Gay Australian legislator Alex Greenwich is on a mission to make same-sex marriage legal in his country. This year might finally be the year.
