Lesbian bar Bellissima is up for sale, says owner Anna Ragghianti.

Located in Amsterdam Walk in Midtown, Bellissima opened in 2008.

The website listing for the bar states it is for sale at “at $79,000 which is a fraction of start-up costs.”

The site also states, “Keep as is or convert to any club, lounge, bar or restaurant.”

Ga. Supreme Court rules in favor of national Episcopal Church in property dispute

The Georgia Supreme Court ruled 6-1 today in favor of the national Episcopal Church in a property dispute case with the oldest church in Georgia that broke away from the national church after it affirmed its first openly gay bishop.

Savannah Christ Church, founded in 1733 and known as the “Mother Church of Georgia,” joined the Episcopal Church in 1823. In 2007, four years after the Episcopal Church USA affirmed Gene Robinson as its first openly gay bishop, 87 percent of the Savannah congregation voted to break off from the national Episcopal Church and instead join an Anglican diocese in Uganda.

Gay East Point incumbent faces political newcomer in Dec. 6 runoff

East Point City Council runoff candidates

Openly gay East Point City Council member Lance Rhodes faces a Dec. 6 runoff with Karen Rene, a first-time political candidate.

Rhodes garnered 49.52 percent of the Nov. 8 vote while Rene received 45.22 and Marie T. Williams got 5.05, according to official Fulton County election results. Because no candidate achieved 50 percent plus one vote, the top two advance to the runoff.

Rhodes, seeking his third term on the council, was instrumental in getting domestic partner benefits passed for city employees.

Atlanta Police LGBT employee group collecting toys for Toy Party

Tis the season for giving and the Atlanta Police Department’s LGBT employee alliance group is getting in the spirit by collecting toys for one of the gayest events of the the year — the annual Toy Party.

APD’s LGBT liaisons Patricia Powell and Brian Sharp along with other gay employees, as well as straight allies, will be at Brushstrokes in Midtown at 1510 Piedmont Ave. on Nov. 27 and then at the Toys “R” Us at 1 Buckhead Loop Drive in Buckhead on Dec. 4, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at both locations. The Atlanta Police LGBT employee alliance group was formed this year shortly before Atlanta Pride.
