Renowned author and now the Atlanta-based bureau chief for The New York Times, Kim Severson visits Outwrite Bookstore & Coffeehouse to celebrate the paperback release of her memoir, “Spoon Fed: How Eight Cooks Saved My Life.”
Severson, who is openly gay, was the food writer and editor for the San Francisco Chronicle before becoming a food writer for the Times in 2004. She now lives in Decatur, Ga., with her partner and daughter.
“Spoon Fed” includes stories about famous and not-so-famous chefs and they have influenced her life, how she learned to deal with alcoholism as well as her coming out story.
Severson recently wrote a story for The New York Times dealing about Chick-fil-a and its Christian platform and how that clashes with LGBT people, some of whom are boycotting the restaurant. Read this interesting and detailed story here.
