Of course, it wouldn’t be Stonewall Week without the vastly popular East Point Possums Show where drag queens from around the south will be donating their time and talents to raise funds for the Phillip Rush Center this year.
There will also be an event to discuss LGBT refugees and asylees. Other events will celebrate the 100th birthday of Bayard Rustin, an openly gay leader in the civil rights movement, and film screenings of “Legalize Gay” and “Stonewall Uprising.”
“We’ve hosted Stonewall Week for several years and wanted to branch out to include more events and more community partners in the hopes of reaching more members of our community, which led to the creation of our most extensive and diverse list of Stonewall offerings thus far, lasting far longer than just a week,” Freedman added.
