Now that the dust has settled on President Barack Obama's second inaugural, business is slowly returning to normal in Washington, D.C. The next major political milestone is the upcoming Debt Ceiling debate, which will see Congress authorize (or not) an increase in the amount of money the country is allowed to borrow to pay its debts.
The debate isn't new. Congress has fought over whether or not to pay its bills for a while now. But many business leaders, including those represented by the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, say that economic uncertainty is hindering growth and fueling an unpredictable market.
The NGLCC announced today a new partnership with the Campaign to Fix the Debt, a bi-partisan organization dedicated to promoting government fiscal responsibility. The aim is for the federal government to seriously address its fiscal policies and to promote a healthy economy unhindered by crippling debt.
