Out On Film Receives $50,000+ in Funding, Hosts ‘Olympia’ Showing

Out On Film has been approved for a $50,000 award as part of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)’s Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. The grant will provide necessary funding to support personnel and facilities cost in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Out On Film also received a $10,000 grant from the Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA), a division of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, The grant is part of the GCA’s initial reimbursement of grants for the fiscal year 2021. Out On Film was one of 148 recipients of a total of more than $1 million in funding.

Following the news of this funding, Out On Film is hosting a virtual showing of Olympia tonight (July 9) at 8pm on their Facebook page. The documentary celebrates the life of Academy Award-winning actress and LGBTQ icon Olympia Dukakis. The film will be followed by a panel conversation with director Harry Mavromichalis, executive producers Sid Ganis and Anthoula Katsimatides, actor Apollo Dukakis, and the artistic director of the Emerita American Conservatory Theater, Carey Perloff.
