The Equality Ride is a national tour to promote the acceptance of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people in religious institutions.
You may remember Soulforce’s recent Atlanta stop, where they protested the Susan B. Anthony List’s “Rick Bus” tour before participating in a series of events with several Georgia colleges and local churches.
“We seek to engage particularly religious schools that have anti-LGBTQ policies,” J Mason, one of the Equality Riders, told GA Voice in March. “We need to let students know there are people out there that love them and care about them.
“We do that for a few reasons. We believe these institutions are creating the religious leaders of tomorrow. We believe these same institutions are creating the political climate. We want to get those leaders, too, so that they know they can’t question our ability to live,” Mason added.
